Yorkshire Water manages the collection, treatment and distribution of water, supplying around 1.24 billion litres of drinking water each day – that’s the equivalent of a glass of water for every person on the planet!

Yorkshire Water works hard to make a positive impact in Yorkshire and seeks to be a national role model for volunteering. The company seeks to forge stronger links with the communities it serves and make a tangible and positive difference to the quality of people's lives through a number of award winning programmes:

• One Million Green Fingers - One Million Green Fingers is Yorkshire Water’s leading-edge volunteering initiative that will see more than 750 employees creating sustainable and healthy gardens in 350 primary schools across the region.
• Cool Schools - Since its launch in 2002 Cool Schools has donated over 1400 mains-fed chilled ‘Cool Fuel’ water coolers to nearly half the primary schools in Yorkshire – helping school children meet the recommended eight glasses of water a day.
• Community Initiatives - Key initiatives are focused around volunteering activities in the Yorkshire community including the award winning Newlands Community Business Club. Yorkshire Water has a large and diverse employee base and feels that this is the area in which we can make a real difference to organisations and people in need across Yorkshire.
• Financial Support - Our employees provide financial support to numerous charitable organisations through payroll giving and employee fundraising. We hope to make a real difference, not just in the Yorkshire region but also in the third world by helping to provide clean water and sanitation through WaterAid.
