Employ ability campaign

Just like you, disability is very individual. And just like you, disabled people have skills, abilities and talents that should be recognised and used. So the next time you’re recruiting, remember there’s a wide range of potential out there.

This is the message the Employ ability campaign is currently sharing with employers in Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and Liverpool. Employ ability is aimed at managers who want to discover more of the talent their business can’t do without. The campaign:

  • emphasises the skills and talents disabled workers and those with long-term health conditions can bring to your workplace
  • helps you feel more confident about recruiting and retaining disabled people
  • helps you find the practical information you need.

Employ ability also shares the real stories of how disabled people are adding value in the workplace. Gaynor Johnson, Personnel Officer, Mitie, says “Look beyond the disability and look at the individual. Look at the capacity and the potential of every person that walks through the door. If the person fits the job that you’re advertising, just grab them”.

Local employers will also be invited to attend Jobcentre Plus district events to find out more about the business benefits of widening the talent pool and meet other employers who have successfully employed disabled workers. So please keep checking Employ ability News for more information.
