Inspire success and make a real difference to the lives and potential of young people in Bradford. Support is welcome in a variety of forms: financial, in-kind, and through the provision and encouragement of volunteers Get Involved!
To continue to inspire and equip young people in the Bradford District to learn and succeed through enterprise we need your help. Young Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber is a not-for-profit organisation which is only able to deliver its programmes through the support of local businesses and communities. This support is provided in a variety of forms; financial, in-kind, and through the provision and encouragement of volunteers. All are essential to Young Enterprise.
Volunteering
Young Enterprise Volunteers make a real difference to the lives and future potential of thousands of young people.
The Young Enterprise Programmes are based on the principle of "learning by doing" and each programme involves practical, fun, hands-on activity led by a Volunteer from local business or the community working alongside teachers/lecturers with specifically designed Young Enterprise programmes.
Volunteers become part of an exciting and enjoyable learning experience for the local community. There is no such thing as a typical "volunteer", they come from all walks of community and business life. No previous experience or expert knowledge is required other than your own experience of life, work or business; and your enthusiasm.
You will receive a volunteer pack and full training outlining everything you need to know about the programme and how to present/facilitate it. Ongoing support is provided by the Bradford Young Enterprise managers.
The time commitment varies depending on the programme. Some involve an hour of your time, others run for five or six sessions, and others run over one academic year.
Volunteers are left with a real sense of achievement. As well as offering a learning experience for students, Young Enterprise programmes also bring learning benefits for volunteers, who are encouraged to develop their own skills and knowledge alongside the students.
From an individual’s perspective, volunteering with YE helps:
- Give something back.
- Develop business and management skills in a distinct environment; in particular communication, presentation, facilitation and team working skills
- Improve self-confidence, dealing directly with committed people in sometimes challenging situations
- Contribute as structured and unstructured hours towards CPD/CPE qualification requirements of many professional bodies including ICA, ICSA, CIPD and CIM
- Access training and the opportunity to put into practice newly acquired insights
- Meet other similarly committed people
From a business perspective, volunteering with YE helps:
- Highlight your organisation’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
- Gain access to free training and personal development for staff, with the opportunity to put these skills into practice in a real life environment
- Profile your organisation as an employer of choice to your future workforce and leaders of tomorrow
- Demonstrate to your company's stakeholders or shareholders a positive contribution to the local community
- Challenge the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, inspiring them to consider business creation as a future career option
- Improve your own company training programmes through a better understanding of how young people learn.
- Enable staff to experience a holistic view of how business operates, rather than a single function
- Help motivate, educate and encourage enterprise back in the work-place.
