Waxworks are seeking sponsorship from business to enable disadvantaged and socially excluded young people to experience accredited training in music, I.T. and digital media activities.
The majority of the young people coming through the Waxworks programme have few or no qualifications, low expectations and aspirations; for some of our client group it is their first ‘success’. Waxworks sees the introduction of these accredited courses as an excellent opportunity for young people to gain nationally recognised qualifications and transferable skills that will enhance their employability, for the gifted in the music industry, for others their first recognised accreditation through which to access employment. The programme aims to improve the profile of young adults from the target groups through a structured programme of positive initiatives e.g. music workshops, personal development programmes and team-building activities. Engaging young adults in positive activities will support the reduction of ‘at risk’ situations that draw young adults into youth crime and anti-social behaviour.
Waxworks is a small Bradford-based Social Enterprise that provides music, I.T. & digital media activities, tuition and education to disadvantaged and socially excluded young people. It is dedicated to the creative arts, social inclusion and community cohesion. The project’s workshops principally aim to develop participants’ confidence, self esteem and transferable skills in providing something that is relevant and meaningful to the younger generation of today.
