RBS a catalyst for change in Keighley

A team of 20 volunteers from Royal Bank of Scotland Commercial Division in Bradford undertook a team challenge at the Bangladeshi Community Centre in Keighley on the 6th September.  RBS staff worked with local volunteers to clear and improve the outside areas of the building and redecorated the reception area in preparation for the unveiling of a new monument in October .

Rokib, Vice Chair of the Bangladeshi Community Association, said "the challenge day has given new impetus to our plans to see the centre become the heart of the community once more. Our management committee are now looking at a full refurbishment of the main hall and communal areas which will increase the services we can offer to the local community".

RBS were able to secure in kind contributions from a number of other businesses including Wetheralds Painters and Decorators, S&B Autos and Wharfdale decorators Ltd to support the activity and made a financial contribution to purchase planters, garden furniture and materials for the day.

Clare Ibbotson, Director of Commercial Banking Bradford at RBS said "It was a great team spirit on the day and I am particularly proud of the teams achievement and commitment shown to accomplish the gruelling schedule we set ourselves. Hopefully our work will provide the catalyst that Rokib is looking for".
